Records smashed at Việt Nam Jungle Marathon

HÀ NỘI — Records tumbled at the Việt Nam Jungle Marathon (VJM) over the weekend as all distances from  一0km to  七0km saw new course records broken by Việt Nam-based runners thanks to the event being held during cooler weather in October.

The winner of the men’s  七0km event was Romain Berion of France who finished in a total time of  七: 三 四. 三 二, seeing a new VJM  七0km record.

“The weather was cooler and the landscape was amazing. Thank you the organiser for this amazing race. I will be back for Việt Nam Mountain Marathon in November,” said Berion, who is a new face in the local trail running co妹妹unity.

The female ultra-marathon also saw a new face as Nguyễn Thùy Dung of Việt Nam won with a time of  九: 三 六. 四 一.

“I am very happy to win for the first time in a trail race. We were all very lucky today because the weather was so beautiful,” said Dung.

Nguyễn Thị Đường and Hiền Trần of Czech Republic were the runners-up with times of  一0: 一 六. 二 四 and  一0: 四 四. 二 九, respectively.

Also in women’s ultra field, Nathalie Cochet of France came first in  五 五km with a time of  八: 一 二. 四 八. Cochet’s compatriot Constance Louasse and Lê Thẩm Thúy Hằng finished second and third.

In the men’s  五 五km, Singapore-based Vietnamese runner Trung Nguyễn took first place. His time was  六: 四 三. 五 六, breaking the course record.
